Unlike traditional cameras, in which images are transferred onto photographic film, digital cameras focus the image on an array of very small components called charge-coupled devices, or CCDs.
Photography involves creating pictures by recording light onto a light-sensitive medium. Modern day cameras render photographs onto photographic film or, more commonly, electronic image sensors.
The word image is a noun. Image means (1) a representation of a person (especially in the form of sculpture), (2) a visual representation (of an object or scene or person or abstraction) produced on a surface, (3) (Jungian psychology) a personal facade that one presents to the world, (4) an iconic mental representation, (5) a standard or typical example, (6) language used in a figurative or nonliteral sense, (7) someone who closely resembles a famous person (especially an actor).
